General Info

Ø  Visa

Visitors to China must hold a valid passport. Persons who need a visa or entry permit for visit should obtain the appropriate visa or entry permit before travelling to China. You may apply for the appropriate visa or entry permit from the nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission.


Ø  The city

Hefei is the capital city of Anhui Province, lying between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. To the south is the Chao Lake, one of the five famous big fresh-water lakes in the country; it belongs to the subtropical monsoon climatic zone. In the city are such places of historic interest and scenic spots as Leisure and Carefree Ford, Mingjiao Temple and the Bao Gong (the upright Judge) Temple.

Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is in Anhui Province in China. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Famous throughout Chinese artistic history, Huangshan represents the typical mountain in Chinese paintings. Frequently shrouded in mist, the many peaks appear to float on clouds and have very fanciful names such as 18 Arhats Worshipping the South Sea, Lotus Flower Peak, Celestial Capital, Paint Brush, etc.


Ø  Climate & Weather

Hefei: The annual average temperature is 15.7C and the yearly precipitation, 1000mm; the frost-free period is approximately 245 days. Autumn (August to October) is the best time to have a visit, because the weather is quite favorable.

Huangshan: Autumn in Huangshan (Sep - Nov) is the most comfortable period and the scenery is stunningly beautiful. Yellow Mountain is one of the best places to enjoy Autumn foliage in China, looking down on the deciduous trees of the ravines and valleys. The pines of course retain their verdant needles.

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC 中国科学技术大学) is a national research university in Hefei, Anhui, China, under the direct leadership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The inception and mission of USTC was in response to the urgent need for the national economy, defense construction, and education in science and technology. It has been featured by its competence on scientific and technological research and expanded into humanities and management with a strong scientific and engineering emphasis. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2010-2011, USTC ranked 49th worldwide among universities.
